Travel to France and Enjoy Your Favourite Wine with this Amazing Read

“The Lost Vintage” by Ann Mah was one of the hardest to put down books I have read in a while.

Every aspect of the book kept me wanting to turn the pages. From the story that went between the main character Kate set in current day France and a young woman’s journal set during WWII, the family lineage and connections, the descriptions of the wine and the food and the French countryside, not to mention the mystery that evolves and trying to solve all the pieces of that puzzle; the threads of all these aspects and more kept me engaged from page 1 to the end. Truly a well written story that is worth a read!!!

For any reader that speaks French, you will probably fly through the pages even faster. While the author is careful to let the reader know what it being said, even if it through a conversation and not a direct translation, it did slow me down here and there. That being said, I found it added to the charm of the story and all the more enjoyable because of the French being used. It made it feel authentic.

For any reader that enjoys history, the story is chock full of it around the WWII era in occupied France. It was very insightful. I have to admit that I did not see the surprise ending coming. At all! Well done Ann Mah!

I am afraid to write too much for fear of giving away too much. But for those, like myself, that enjoy good food and wine, travel, history AND a great mystery, you WANT to read this book!

I received this book for free on Goodreads in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are 100% my own.
