Gigi, Listening by

I have been in a reading slump for about two years, and Gigi Listening by Chantel Guertin has me so excited to read again. I had a hard time putting this novel down. The idea of a woman falling in love with a man solely based on his voice was interesting. It combined travel, book references that I loved, reminded me of my favourite movie (My Life in Ruins), and had several of my favourite tropes (enemies to lovers, books, etc.). I liked that it was not spicy. The various characters were great. A group tour is perfectly set up for having the best diversity of characters. I enjoyed spending time with the various characters as well.  It was fairly predictable, but I did not mind that. (There were a few small surprises.) Is it super realistic? No. Is it romantic, fun, and adventurous? Yes. The Jane Austen references were especially great, and I could see inspiration being drawn loosely from Austen’s novels. Emma (main character initially unlovable with a great character arc), Pride and Prejudice (enemies to lovers, and a jerk that the main character is initially into, referenced), Persuasion (Bath, references, and even bits of Gigi and Taj’s love, referenced), Northanger Abbey and Susan (referenced). I cannot wait to read this again in the future. I think to listen to this book would be fun based on the premise. Whenever I read a book that has a huge book theme, I always wish I had a way to keep track of all the books easily, and this book included a list of all books listed at the end, bonus! I received an eARC from Kensington Books through NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.
